This song was first performed in the year my mother got pregnant with me (born in 1973) so it sounds almost spiritual to me. I like it a lot. Hi! I am Czech and I believe an expression like this exists in almost any language. "Better times", "Golden times" and similar. I think it is mostly nostalgy. The simple reason is that we were younger. This saying becomes even more absurd in my country. Between 1948 and 1989 hardline communists were running the country and times were tough for many of us, yet still many people in the Czech Republic use the sentence "It was better before". It was not better, it´s just that we were young and we no longer are. Ask you kids if they want to go back to those times. I doubt it. No matter when it was when you were young you always consider those time better than current times. It´s not a fair comparison it´s nostalgy as I mentioned. Btw, the song is truly great!

I was sixteen when I saw Vicky Leandros sing this song on Eurovision Song Contest. I was instantly in love. Beautiful and talented back in the day before all the idiots dressing up like women with beards and all the other crap that goes on today.
